Bard College Hessel
Museum & Library

The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College identified a need to expand the storage capacity of its art and archive facilities due to a growing collection. In 2023, C.T. Male partnered with HWKN Architecture to design, document, and administer the construction contract for an addition to the library and art storage facility at the Hessel Museum of Art.

The collaborative design process between HWKN and C.T. Male resulted in a high-value solution that met both schedule and budget requirements. Frequent client work sessions, rapid concept prototyping, and 3D visualization were key components of the process, supported by cost estimating from the concept phase. This tight alignment between design intent and probable construction costs helped drive successful fundraising efforts and secured project funding from a confident donor network.

The final design delivers a modern, open, and light-filled space that fosters student engagement with the Curatorial Studies program. The building is scheduled for completion in August 2025.
