City of Kingston
East O’Reilly St - New Fire Station
In May 2024, the City of Kingston retained C.T. Male to evaluate the existing building located at 18-30 East O’Reilly Street, which the City is considering for purchase to serve as a new fire station facility. The building is situated directly across from the existing Central Fire Station, which C.T. Male previously evaluated in 2016–2017 and needed extensive repairs and upgrades.
C.T. Male provided a comprehensive suite of services including architectural design, structural engineering, asbestos and lead paint testing, and boundary and topographic survey work. These efforts were aimed at determining the building’s suitability for reuse as a fire station. Mechanical and electrical services were provided by Erdman Anthony as a subconsultant to C.T. Male.
As part of the evaluation, C.T. Male developed three interior layout options, three exterior renovation concepts, and conceptual designs for reconstruction of the apparatus bay. After the City selected its preferred options, C.T. Male delivered a final building evaluation report that included proposed renovation concepts and preliminary construction cost estimates. The report was submitted in August, 2023.
Following completion of the building evaluation, C.T. Male advanced the project through the design phase. This effort included the preparation of design development drawings and a complete set of construction drawings and technical specifications. Design phase services were completed in January 2026, and the project is anticipated to be advertised for public bidding between February and March 2026. These documents will be used by the City to solicit construction bids and advance the project toward implementation.
