Electrical Upgrades –
University of Albany Bioscience Development Center
C.T. Male was awarded the electrical upgrade project for the University at Albany’s Bioscience Development Center, spanning four multi-story buildings including the Cancer Research Center, George Education Center, Main Lab Building, and Central Plant. The scope included emergency generator upgrades, fire alarm code review and improvements, and a comprehensive arc flash hazard analysis. A full design drawing set and AFHA report were provided, stamped by a NYS Professional Engineer, along with OSHA/PESH compliant electrical safety training for facilities staff.
The generator upgrade replaced two aging units with a single, consolidated emergency backup generator designed to support current and future loads. Fire alarm evaluations covered over 400,000 square feet, resulting in updated floor plans and proposed panel upgrades for campus-wide connectivity. The arc flash hazard analysis involved detailed data collection and labeling of medium and low voltage equipment in compliance with NFPA70 and NFPA70E standards.
