Batavia Kill Watershed District Dams
Engineering Assessments
C.T. Male has been working for the Batavia Kill Watershed District since 2009 as the engineer of record for their three high-hazard dams located in the Town of Windham- Maplecrest Dam, Nauvoo Dam and Mitchell Hollow Dam. In 2024, C.T. Male was retained to prepare updates to the Engineering Assessments for the dams, which are required to be updated every 10 years. The updates to the Engineering Assessments also included updates that are applicable to the dams’ status as being overseen by the federal government through the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). The Engineering Assessment 10-year updates included:
- Safety Inspection
- Existing Conditions Survey of all three dams utilizing drone flight technology.
- CCTV of principle spillways (concrete outlet pipes) and low level drains.
- Refinement of spillway capacity modeling and stability analyses.
- Assessment of Population at Risk from Dam Failure
- Findings/Recommendations
